I was diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) after my son received his diagnosis. This is a common story: the parent who’s always been a little odd, but never really understood why until their child was diagnosed. I spent most of my life just trying to be “normal”, and not understanding why it was so difficult for me. Why did it feel like I had to try so hard and change so much just be “mature” or “acceptable”?
When I finally learned I had ASD, it felt like I finally had an explanation as to why things were so difficult and why I felt so different. I am different, and that is beautiful, but I’ve also learned to hide and put on a mask, because my movements, the way I think, and the way I learn have all been seen as wrong and weird. My son is helping me learn all the beautiful things about myself and other ASD people.
I called this site “Unmasked Beauty”, because I wanted to share the wonderful beautiful world of Autism without the mask and filter that so many of us use every day.
我兒子被確診後被診斷出患有ASD(自閉症譜系障礙)。

If you’ve met one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism.
Stephen M Shore
Autistics are the ultimate square pegs, and the problem with pounding a square peg into a round hole is not that the hammering is hard work. It’s that you’re destroying the peg.
Paul Collins
